If you grasp how all life on earth evolved though qualiadelic relationships, how all senses developed through the sharing of qualia with another being, then you catch a glimpse of just why a tree is our brother (or sister as the case may be) because we all came to perceive \u201creality\u201d together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This interdependence takes us a long way toward understanding how, as reality disintegrates during a trip we experience such powerful kinship with plants and animals, and all of nature. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But it goes deeper. Even atoms and molecules have a certain consciousness, perhaps of the patterns which inform them – but at the very least they do have an awareness of it when for some reason they must part from the pattern – for nothing lasts forever and all things fall apart. What is that awareness? It is belonging. Or, shall we say, the loss of that belonging. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And when we trip even our very own cells, even our DNA senses the precariousness of their existence. Belongingness is existential. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now, back to you or me, tripping, as reality falls apart and we have the opportunity to re-belong to the earth, we run into a stumbling block. I like to think of Jung\u2019s four personality types. If you, like me, are a thinker, as thinking reality falls apart, then the feeling sense rises, but as it is immature, so the trip here becomes rocky, to say the least. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
So it is with all the types and their opposites. But, if we can bear it (and in the proper set and setting we can), then we proceed with confidence into the wholeness (or oneness) and belonging we have always craved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From here we can take comfort in our connection with all things. It is as if we are suddenly empty and into that vacuum pours a contentment that has all the confidence of the universe underlying it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
