Our wishes must contain an element of virtue, or something higher or universal, be in harmony (resonate) with the ecosystem before they will unfold into reality. The ego must relinquish the central, controlling position in the landscape before true happiness can be attained. That is why it is necessary to focus on qualia instead matter, to be qualiadelic instead of materialistic.

“Things” are just collections of matter, while qualia is what informs them, what gives them their meaning, and makes the whole greater than the sum of its parts. Hence, our wishes, even when they are for material things, reflect our desire for something better, higher, and meaningful. But we forget about the qualia; all too quickly we revel in the matter and the meaning slips away.

The material focus keeps us mired in the landscape, while focusing on qualia frees us to appreciate the ecosystem. The landscapes with which we have evolved are full of competition, but ecosystems keep all these landscapes in harmony with one another. The greatest gift of the ecosystem is cooperation, and it is ego-less.
