We are all so ready to see ourselves individually as more noble, as less harmful than other people around us. This is wrong.
Aside from the obvious damage that we all participate in – the exploitation of Earth – the mere weight of our bodies affects the ground beneath us. Literally. We are large animals. There’s a world of beings just underneath the surface that we’re completely affecting and changing, just by walking around on our own two feet.
Of course, that’s just part of being alive. What we really have to develop an awareness of, is far more important. It’s not just our effect on ecosystems, but rather ecosystems’ effect on us.
Only this latter consciousness will teach us how to fix the mess we’ve made.
