One of the ironies of watching animals gear up for the war against humans is that although we are their model for military conflict, they are our model for tolerance and cooperation.

In ecosystems, different species are mostly focused on different qualia – their everyday paths are different, so they get along. There is, for the most part, cooperation between species.

But there is competition within species. But most (families, tribes, groups) have enough memory so that repeated cheaters are eventually cast out in exile, and and so the tribe survives.

Mankind’s own “progress” has exiled us from a comfortable niche within ecosystems. People need to take game theory to heart.

Our planet has had enough of our competitive ways and is in the process of casting our species out altogether.

Happy Earth Day!
