The major difference between humans and animals is that the animal landscape does not turn animals into addicts. It is an aberration when an animal destroys its landscape – typical mainly of invasive species. But people will destroy an entire tree for its wood, or an entire elephant for its tusks.

Such destruction can only happen because, over time, the landmarks and pathways of material addiction have hidden ecosystems from our view.

Fortunately, we can’t become addicted to qualia.

While qualia is in infinite supply, the material gifts it brings to us are not. We run out of drinks, of money, of friends, and families. But we desire more.

Ecosystems provide the Big Dopamine rushes, but only seasonally. The run of salmon and the ripening of berries are gone before an animal can become addicted. And so animal senses are primarily focused on qualia, on the Little Dopamine gifts that lead them to whatever next will provide.

The human landscape provides so much…discontentment. People are groomed to desire more when enough will do. Be qualiadelic and rediscover contentment.
