Ecosystems aren’t really a thing, they are a description of a thing. Like a physical law, such as gravity, they describe phenomena we all experience.

Ecosystems describe the harmony and rebalancing that lets all of nature endure – life, death, growth and decay. Ecosystems, however, are about as far from being mathematically described as god is. Like god though, to know ecosystems at all is to sense the imperatives of how we ought to live.

Currently, in regard to our actual experience of ecosystems, it would seem we are agnostic if not downright atheists.
