The mind is in a similar relationship to the body as an ecosystem is to a forest or a desert, but unfortunately it is so focused on the human landscape that the body has been thrown out of its natural homeostasis.

I looked at the beautiful trees in the park and I wondered about how they manage to communicate with each other through the awesome mycocelium web beneath their roots. A wonderful thought came to me like a gift: the system of facia surrounding all the organs in our body is just like the mycocelium connecting all the plants and trees in the forest!

There is a lot of talk about facia today, the part of the body that anatomists historically discarded while cutting bodies up to study the rest of the organs. Facia was just kind of a filler in there. But facia plays a crucial role in the body’s health and the similarity to the mycoshere is something I’ve never heard expressed before.

We can learn so much from ecosystems.
