Every evolutionary step is the result of qualiadelic relationships: as we ritual with qualia in the landscape, (redness, for instance), not only do our eyes evolve (to see red better), but so does the landscape (flowers display brighter reds). Landscapes would not exist at all if it were not for the evolution of our ability to sense them – indeed, they both evolved together! Our ability to sense, to think, and to be active, has developed mutually with the landscapes in which we sense, think and act. All that we “know” is a closer reflection of landscapes than Tao.
Perhaps the deepest theme in the Tao Te Ching is it’s unknowableness: if you can sense it, or think of it, or act in it, you probably don’t know it. Every step in our evolution has been a step away from the original Tao.
