If it is heroes you want, then some sort of autocratic government is required, because it will soon become apparent that such a government must needs be overthrown – by heroes! Don’t be fooled Hegelian heroic leaders, where there are few pleasures to be had and everyone sins.
Liberal democracy, on the other hand, is a tough slough. There is a lot of crap and the rewards are cheap gilt, and heroes are plentiful – but they are rarely heroic in the classic sense. However, there are many pleasures and everyone sins.
The real heroes are individuals who sin with qualia!
Seriously, it takes a hero to sacrifice a child – a brainchild, an idea, on the alter of public scrutiny. It takes a hero to give up Big Dopamine addictions and to sin, eccentrically, neurotically, with Little Dopamine. A good idea inspires or angers, but either way it makes heroes of those who dare to think and imagine.
In a qualiadelic economy, where value is based, not upon ownership, but upon sharing, ideas can be given away at no loss; they actually grow in value as others grok them. A shared idea or invention offers the heroic originator the prospect of laurels while the artists play, the scientists experiment, and you and I consider itu. Payment is realized in meaning and belonging; acceptance of an idea bestows status.
Of course, it can fail too, but there is no shame in having thought of it. Where would we be if nobody reflected upon bad or unpopular ideas? (In fact, it seems we need more of this reflection than ever!)
The greatest gift of a qualiadelic economy is that the tyranny of the majority quiets quickly in a marketplace of ideas.
